Potential Names
I'm not satisfied with the name of the game yet so this is a list of things I came up with.
- Deepest Anomalies
- Deepest Mountain
- Mt. Anomaly
It might be better to wait on this until I get a better grasp on the visual style/theming of the game
Unsorted Notes
A distant horn sounds, indicating an entities arrival Far noise = near, Near noise = far Still object slowly floating towards you Light based (Hides/Visible/Aggressive in darkness/light/flashlight) Dark shadows at the corner of the wall An object with multiple ways of interacting (Train Table LC) Changes environment (Fog) Don't face general direction Stamina, Hiding Places, vision cone closing when in inventory Slightly ramping up difficulty the more time spent? (they notice your presence) A strange out of place object that might do something (disappear, bag/good effect) by interacting (looking, touching, using, flashing light, surrounding by darkness) Hearing tales and folklore surrounding the entities of the mountain An alarm bell whenever an entity appears that gets quiter the more you progress (could turn off to increase profit at end because of less used electricity/resources)
Phone 0
Something that mimics a common monsters sound Battery management (not just for flashlight?) Something thats only hostile when you move. Always slightly faster than you. Different behaviour depending on floor/other monsters.
Phone 1
A clock that ticks backwards. Once the real time and backwards time meet, three increasingly louder bell sounds can be heard, after which something slowly sweeps across the floor, dealing heavy damage unless hidden A thing that fades the texture of the usually montone black darkness to a starlit night sky around it. Loads of variations of ambient sounds with no memorable characeristics to keep players guessing what sound is important and what isn't Ear mufflers that protects from sound based entities but also makes it harder to detect danger using sound. An entity apart of an evermoving structure thats only rarely findable Closing/Locking yourself in a room to safely check in your inventory while suddenly the door/walls knocks Poltergeist thats only detectable through moving objects A thing that requires you to spot a small detail and do something regatding it. An entity that makes certain furniture disappear/move Sound meter to detect how much sound youre making/there generally is around you/at your location. Clock that tells you the time. (Wrist and Old school variant, wrist/inventory slot occupied as a pricefor either) Water, Lava, Liquid, Gas, Shifting/Moving/Enclosing walls, decrepid parts of facility

Enemy Mimic HEavy weighted combat that's easy to learn, hard to master. With weight, allows to get hit when misklicked/not hit enemy and he has time to counterattack Crouch & Prone Being able to slowly sink into the ground while prone in some parts. Semi-secret Pocket dimensions like liminal spaces Slender-man like with static Jester Weird, distant, echoey music Sound engine of damp sound, echo. Enemy AI with Pathfinding would be a big thing # Normally secrets in games have only one very specific and convoluted way of reaching it. What if there could be many hard to discover ways that require thinking to find and allow you to adapt depending on your items. 2.5D - depth, with water and lava. Lower layers covered in cave fog, upper layers fading into the color of walls Some kind of bombs or so so that you can blow up walls or make the ceiling collapse. -> A chamber inside the walls that houses an entity An entity that spreads darkness around it - only a glowing pair of eyes? (Like vanessa from A Hat in Time?) Some sort of giant? Monster that only appear while having certain items/item groups/item combos An invisible man that can wear stuff so you'll see like walking pants A monster that has something to do with vents? Time-based monster that only comes when you idle for a while? Items: - Something that increases jump height to mario levels - Something that allows swimming, increases underwater breathing, allows short resistance against lava - Third Eye (Increased vision angles/A small cone at the back) - Some item to allow for a vision cone while inspecting the backpack - Insect spray - Walkie Talkies? (Able to be placed somewhere to be able to hear if something happens at the place you place it at) Entity that's a swarm of small bugs. Gasses? Something pixelated like IMSCARED in Spookys Jumpscare Mansion Weapons: - Melee - A fucking rocket/grenade/bomb launcher? Floors: - Some sort of floor where light shines through - Labyrinthe - Vertical (Large Chasm) - Watery (Mostly flooded caves with lots of tiny lakes dotted around) - A cave where it rains (& thunders?) - A cave where a liquid slowly rises - A cave where the boundaries are marked by black, bottomless pits/liquid ocean - In case of oceans - generation styles: - Multiple little islands you need to traverse between (hanging bridges) - A secret island you can sail to - Secrets hidden underwater - Ghost ships - Rest Sublevel like Pikmin 2? Sublevel terminology - An floor with extensive artificial lighting (Alterna from Splatoon 3(Early Storymode Spoiler) ?) with day & night phases - A darkness based floor similar to PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate's 6th world? - Snow fields in perpetual snowstorm (similar to Lethal Company's snow planet with the mansion) - Floor divided between aboveground & Bunkers? Foggy "weather" Objects in the world: - Stairs - Windows - Doors - Drains/Gates/vents - Places to hide (lockers) - Treasure room (like TBoI) - Toilets? Sinks? Fridges? Microwaves? Toasters? - Turrets? Mines? Buildings/Structures in the world: - Canalisation tunnels - A cathedral with a holy light shining through a window that summons an entity if destroyed? - Construction Sites - Graveyards? Consumable Items: - Planks/Barricades? - Climbing rope to make it easier to traverse vertically? Things to think about: Health Balancing - What can cause damage? What can heal it? Some sort of map? Curses like TBoI that then prevent the map for that sublevel? How long should a floor take? How big should it be? How many floors in total? A monster that collects the corpses of your previous attempts Hub: Story: - Prisoner of a research facility near the mountain forced to go down there? Not too badly treated because mentally well people are better at exploring than prisoners treated like scum (but still kind of half-well treated but also half-looked down upon?). Allowed for them to access documents to study up for their trips. At beginning of game not a lot of documents, but increases as researchers evaluate your inventory after you died, maybe warp the corpse back along with headcam footage? Each run is played as a nameless inmate with a random ID like Inmate-3759 Using corpse autopsies, camcorder footage to analyze what this entity can or can't do "Entity ... is hard to study due to it's effect on camcorder equipment." Can the entities affect the world outside of the mountain? Game starting with you being a prisoner, being taken to this hidden research facility where no inmate ever comes out to tell the tale. A monster where you couldn't see the documents because knowing about it makes it dangerous (-> how to translate into gameplay? By reading certain randomized books you might read about it and it can then spawn in the run?) -> If there's a system to reread documents found inside the mountain, if reading the documents pertaining to that entity, that entity will spawn in the next run. A disease-like entity/parasite that slowly spreads throughout the floor? Items: - Clock - Map? - A mysterious remote that can interact with various electrical objects - Flashlights & Batteries - Glowsticks? Flares? Flareguns? Ways to modify the run: - Starting items - Modifiers (More hostile monster) Stamina? The "True Hero" An effect where a shadow is only visible from one side of a window - An entity trapped in the window? A horse-like entity? Something that attaches your head? Something that kills you from the inside-out? Standard Enemies/wildlife: - Slimes like in Terraria - Worms / Leeches - Bats - Small details (Flies, fireflies, rainworms) An arena mode where there's a timer and you'll have to survive random monsters for that time. A mode similar to TBoI's greed mode? A gigantic worm that digs through walls and gets triggered by too much noise?
06.11.2023 - Phone 2
Biome themed floors (forest/desert)
Caves that defy all laws of physics - Oceans full of subterranean island, caves cursed with eternal rain,
These caves are
Tutorials are opt-in as readable documents about the mountain because staff are tired of educating the masses of prisoners
People going in together get seperated quickly by getting lost, or them disappearing once they look away.
No but a few prisoners have seen what might be called a bottom.
The caves dont like those that defy it, entrapping anyone inside inside caves surrounded by
Why wouldnt an overequipped researcher go in and go ham?
Those who come into contact with O-347 quickly grow a third eye that aids them in seeingwhats behind them.
An item that takes out an eye, lowering the vision cone in trade for a strong upgrade
Being able to close the eyes, having nothing in vision and adding a black circle overlay that reduces unsighted vision.
Bat Set (Completely blacks out environment when eyes are closed and replaces it with echolocation)
Blinking?
Something that messes with the camera? One thats only visible in the reflection of water, like spiders crawling on the ceiling?
Black Sun (Emits darkness and makes walls appear in a blacn and white filter)?
An entity that only moves when you do
Camcorder (First person view // + Can see whats on the ceiling - No top down view
To see something, it requires both being in your vision cone and being in good enough lighting
For some reason, it feels like there's a group of prisoners that are intimately familiar with this place. Just this week there has been a sharp increase of prisoners that have entered the mountain without ever attending the training course. [Theorizing about why...]. {The only plausible thing seems to be thag the prisoners that go into the mountain somehow come back with the knowledge they learned, and then pass them on to the other prisoners. <> Perhaps the soul of those lost in the mountain remain and find their way into the bodies of these prisoners?}
Dungeon based (Semi-like TBoI)
The exit portal rarely taking you to a special place
Those in and around the mountain arent a part of reality anymore
Decorative critters (rats, worms, flies, fireflies)
A rare bunny critter that has sonething to do with an entity.
An entity that moves towards you when you look at it.
An entity that has to do with water fountains shooting out of bodies of waters rarely
A slenderman like entity that gets more agressive the more... Time you spend/items you collect on the floor
A humanoid entity with a gun.
Peeking?
Battery pack item (Has 10-12 batteries in it and can be used as a more compact way to store batteries)
An item that increades battery performance
Simple stat ups (melee damage, firearm stats, health/stamina/armor/resistances
A floor that slowly floods with some liquid
A floor that resembles a modern city (drains, parks, rain compatible, day-night compatible)
Item that grants flight (wings,jetpack)?
An item that starts a timer (bell?). Positive effects are increased, but the longer you stay,... the more you take damage/die after a certain countdown (after 12 rings)
Each time you ring it, you take increasing damage and gain a floow-wide bonus (stat up)
Friendly/neutral/tameable entities?
D6 - An aimable item that rerolls an item
A key that can be plucked into any surface to create a room in it, similar to TBoI's Red Key
Planks - Barricading doors/windows, used as plank to walk across gaps
Security cameras that work when supplied with energy?
The inside of a floor of a skyscraper in the void, like a business floor with offices, and like a bridge connecting to twin buildings - elevator shafts
Alternatively in an ocean. More than one floor visitible? How to mark the end?
Extra space on bestiary for things like folklore names, so that when you read something like "Beast of the Deep" in a document it gets half-added to the bestiary. Same system could be in place for clues.
Segmented documents that grow depending on what you knoe (getting killed by entity could deliver info by autopsy. )
Dying to an entity in some cases provide autopsy notes and adds something to the summary.
Having an non-hidden enemy mimic in vision cond adds a picture of the uncloded mimic to it
A ship based floor where water'll flood the ship if you blow up the walls, perhaps with the ship sinking after a while.
An entity that catches people that try to go out of bounds on ocean floors
A gummy based entity that slowly moves throughout the stage. If it absorbs a bomb, it explodes into many smaller versions that can do much, and probably try to form together again. Can absorb and dissolve any living thing, and will dissolve things in it slowly to increase body mass. When inside itll slowly damage the player until death.
An evil tree that slowly grows
Day night floor with a sun shade clock thing on the ground
Certain research might unlock run modifiers, like starting with some entity appearing because of knwoing a way for it to appear, like with an upgrade for the base thats able to send a certain radio wave or something
Ocean floor: A rare chance to be on an island sized entity
Cheese: Healing item as primary purpose, but might do something secret in the environment (like with mice)
10.11.2023 - Phone 3
Entity Floors Rare structure: Endless Hallway Entity structure: A working elevator that can transport you to various other dimension related to other entities Walking blacklight Item: Blacklight? Absorbs light in its cone, making it pitch-black. Interestingly enough, this flashlight has something of an inverse battery. It requires empty batteries, and as the blacklight absorbs more and more light, it charges up the battery insidd. Once the battery is full, it cant store anymore "light", and thus is empty. This gives this item the unique ability to produce enegry at no real cost, albeit at an excruciatingly slow pace. Item: UV-Light "A standard issue UV flashlight." You get introduced to trees by just seeing their shadows, but (Entity?) iea: A broken clock that you can insert batteries in Item Entity: A key that, when used on a locked door, leads to an entity dimension Entity floor that appears once some secret things have been done on the floor

Item: Bodycam - "First Person Spooker" "Unlocked First Person Mode/Modifier!" Multiple pause screens depending on where you are in game. - Pause Screen in-game is like the controls of a video player like Windows Media Player popping up to indicate that this is essentially found footage now(Kind of implies that the player always dies no matter what he does) . This also gives off a funny image in my head of how 5 researchers, all hunching down at a computer monitor, constantly pause to seriously analyze and siphon out any information they can out of potentially silly gameplay footage. - Other fun details for this could be the file name of the video they're watching, with it containing stuff like the date, prisoner id, run id?, floor name, parts(like "pt.2". Occurs when the player saves and quits during a run and then continues that run later) A phone that films off the video, making the image overall more low quality at the advantage of being immune to camera-based entities or something. An item that adds like a bandicam water mark modding support with floor designer and modded items, entities, mechanics and custom floor stuff (structures, floor type, generation methods) A creepy mask face thing that always faces the camera (or character) and grins creepily. An entity that only moves when you don't look, but instead of always making a straight b-line towards you, it also wanders around, making it more unpredictable when it'll strike and where it is after a while has passed. Alternatively a monster that can loose track of you/get bored/sees that it isn't making any progress and then decide to piss off. A monster that creeps up behind you and you have to turn around to scare it?
17.11.2023: "I closed my eyes and saw the abyss - a place darker than black." A red light high up in the air, surrounded by darkness. An entity that knocks on the door / something similar to those crerepy games you're told to play alone in your house with all lights out at midnight. Something like hearing a knocking on the door once the preperations are complete. Phasmophobia like gameplay where multiple entites can do the same thing (e.g. throw over a bookcase) and you'll have to think about what entity it is and how to counter it. An entity that changes the behavior of normal enemmies in a way that makes it feel bad, like the enemies are sick or have seen something unspeakable they can't process. Some stand there disturbed, doing nothing. Other might transform into that entity's minions? "Then I saw him enter the dark corner, with him disappearing without any trace." An entity that itself produces light and finds you if you run in it. -> You'd need to stay hidden in the dark to avoid detection. Some audio-based entity/entities. The idea of some entites being able to have multiple states, like an enraged state. Rarely, a funny sound plays randomly in the distance. Item: RC-Car - Can get destroyed
Randomly, a door you just walked past will open and invite you in. In it you'll see a hallway. If you enter, you've entered this entites trap(?). A rare entity that mimics a broken monster from a budget indie horror game, stuck in place in it's walk cycle. A church with an alter at the front. A crowd of stoned people pray to a glowing red portal at the altar.
An entity that plays some creepy radio noise/melody when near like Three Note Oddity. Or a radio sender that once you hear it, means you're going to be visited by that entity. A digital clock whose blinking ":" subtly changes it's rate. Details that are subtle and only noticable after paying attention.
