I define graphics like buttons, stamps, blinkies and badges that are often downloaded and displayed by others as shareable graphics or simply shareables.
Most of these are only here because I like how they look
If you want to see the three shareables I made, visit the "Me shareables" page.
More info about this section
- At the moment, every graphic is just a straight copy from the place I got it from
(meaning no compression or reformatting and in most cases, no renaming of the file) although I might change them later(compressing to lower filesize, renaming to indicate the source, reformatting to make them consistent (Animated files always being GIFs instead of APNG because of better compatability with other software, static images being compressed PNGs)) . - In case you want to look at these with greater detail, zoom in with your browser
(Multiples of 100% work best. Anything else results in mixels) ! - In case you have JavaScript enabled, there should be a button below to switch between my old light and the current dark mode since some graphics look better with a bright background behind them.
- In case you don't you can inspect this page and change 'simple-dark.css' to just 'simple.css' somewhere in
<head>
- In case the light theme looks a bit broken/different to the dark theme, open the "Light Theme Refresh"-page and reload the cache
(Press CTRL + F5)
Some places I sourced these graphics from
These can serve as a good starting point if you want more.
Buttons
Some people also seem to call these "Badges", which confuses me on two levels:
- Do buttons generally refer to small graphics used to link to each other?
- If these are called Badges for some people, what would the graphics in my "Badges" section be called for them
(or are they Badges too) ?
Website buttons
Misc.
Stamps
"A style of graphic that's most popular on deviantart, an art website that was popular in the early 2000s. Usually around 99x56px."- newlambda's graphics page
Besides 99x56 there are also a few 100x56
Blinkies
"Small, flashing gif banners that were popular on cites like geocities. Most of these are from old geocities sites, but some have been made recently in the same style. Most banner-type blinkies are 150x20px, but "blinkie" can describe many small flashing graphics of different sizes."- newlamba's graphics page
I personally don't like blinkies that blink too much.
Comedic
Badges
"Tiny 80x15 buttons used to provide information about a site or its maker at a glance."- newlambda's graphics page
Seem to also be called antipixels
Miscellanea
Favicons
I'm a bit hesitant to call favicons a shareable - it feels a bit more like something other people wouldn't really want distributed compared to stuff like buttons or stamps.
Nevertheless, I do find some favicons pretty and shareworthy and if someone doesn't want them here, I can remove them!
Cloverbell's Materials Page
Her material page contains quite a lot of graphics that have that waft of early web graphics to me that I like.
